As part of our media as introduction, the class were put into groups so that we could have a go at taking different camera shots to help us in our coursework.

Codes And Conventions Of A Music Magazine!

Magazine Cover


  • Masthead- this has to be eyecatching to the reader and its very crucial that the masthead fits the genre of the magazine. It should defenatley be bold as its the brand name and it must be very unique.
  • Issue Number- this is for the audince to keep up to date with what number it is and show new readers how well its been selling.
  • Price- the price reflects the content of the magazine and the production value.
  • Barcode- shows us that the magazine is a rea product.
  • Central image- this is the largest image on the cover and it gives direct mode of address. It also suggests the attitude of the magazine genre.
  • Other imagaes- shows the reader whats inside the magazine. It attracts the reader to buy the magazine because the images will make the reader interested in the magazine. The other images also illistrate the coverlines.
  • Other promotions- the promotions attract the reader to buy the magazine because of the way the magazine cover uses the word "free".
  • Coverlines- coverlines advertise whats inside of the magazine.
  • For example: "week of rock poster special", "Metallica storm the UK", "Travis barker in plane crash horror".
Contents


  • The contents are divided into collums and they are broken into differet sections.
  • Illistrations are included with page numbers that are usually before the images- not i chronological order!
  • One main story image is included which promote a double page spreador main interview.
  • Incldes deals for magazine subscriptions to attract the reader.
  • Captions
  • Website at the bottem of the magazine so that readers can visit the site.
  • The masthead always needs to be "contents" although it needs to be smaller than the cover.
  • Size of he font needs to be 11 so that everything can be fitted onto the page.
  • There needs to be some sort of introduction from the editor to give readers an insight on whats inside on the issue.
